How Muslims In My Neighbourhood Celebrate Holidays During COVID-19

2020 has been the saddest and not fun year, I can't meet with my family, friends, and I can't even go to the mall to have fun.

now I will be answering questions from my teacher

What is the biggest thing that happens in your local area that you can see in doing religious activity?

I live in an area that is mostly Muslim, so if there is a holiday we celebrate it together.

But since we stayed at our own house and not going anywhere, we don't celebrate it together, we celebrate it alone with our family, just like Eid al-Fitr we celebrate it at our own house, with no guests.

If I compare it with the eid al-Fitr in 2019, 2018, 2017, etc. it is not as fun and enjoyable as before, but I think of it as the al-Fitr family only.

But surprisingly on Eid al-Adha, we celebrate it together but we don't go to each other house, we still stay at our own house, but we do the praying together.

How does it happen?

It all started on 13 March 2020, someone not from our country came here to come to a PUBLIC EVENT, people were fine, but 2 people from the event were sick, they got brought both of them to the hospital, and just got the news that both of them has COVID-19. And since that day people stay at their own house.

But still, people only come out to buy food and things for their house, but who knows maybe they still don't use masks, and now there are 511.836 people who have COVID-19 and there are 16.225 deaths.

Who is affected?

there are a lot of people that have to do holidays in their own house, and almost all of the people that live in my neighborhood was forced to do holidays in their own house.

Where and when does it occur?

It occurs when the government told us to stay at home on 13 March 2020, so me and my family were just like ok Corona is here we have to stay at our house but before that swab first, so then we did the swab, thank god my family is all negative, and since then we stayed at our house.

And the first time a person got corona was in Depok it is so close to where I live, so me and family have to stay at our house.

What are the facts?

there are a few facts, one fact is how do people get Corona, you can get Covid from little drops from other people sneezes. You could also pick it up by touching doorknobs or countertops that an infected person has touched, and then touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.

How you handle the situation and what is your expectation?

I can handle this situation easily because I am not the type of person that likes to go around (but I sometimes still like to), I only like to go somewhere if I am going to eat something, buy things that I like, and meet up with friends other than that I am not going anywhere. and I can’t believe that there are so many people that have corona.

Your conclusion

People almost all around the world celebrate holidays at their own house, because of the COVID-19. And if we want to meet our big Family maybe we should just call them, and not meet them eye-to-eye because you may don't know where they have been.

Stay safe, Stay at home, and Stay healthy ✌🏽peace out lads and gents
